Wines: A range of specialities

South Burgundy is covered with vines. 5 700 Ha produce every year almost 50 million bottles.

The Mâcon white, fine and elegant wines are elaborated from the Chardonnay vine (name of a local village) with the appellation of Mâcon Village. Among this wines, the Pouilly Fuissé, known throughout the world, the Saint Véran, drier and fruity and the Viré Clessé became famous. Stemmed from the black Gamay vine with white juice, the Mâcon red wines with a beautiful bright red colour will surprise you with their freshness and their flavours.

Beaujolais wines, it's not only a nouveau wine! This region in the south of Mâcon has given birth to 10 prestigious vintages like the brouilly, Saint Amour…

The city of Mâcon welcomes the national Great Wine Competition, annual world event. 2000 wines tasters from all over the world, judge about 10 000 samples. They award the famous gold, silver or bronze «badges».

With the Mâconnais-Beaujolais wine road, explore vineyards, visit caves and taste amazing wines. Following the road sign, symbol of the Wine road, you will discover 8 itineraries and their 70 wine producing villages.

But wherever you dine, be sure to try one of the Macon’s renowned local vintages, like Pouilly-Fuissé or Viré-Clessé.

And for the nec plus ultra in exclusivity, climb aboard a hot-air balloon with Air Escargot. Following the wind 1,000 meters above tiled rooftops, medieval châteaux, and picturesque vineyards, you’ll have the world at your feet – and local wine at your fingertips.



The Pouilly-Fuissé growers Association has created "L'Atrium" in the village of Solutré: an invitation to taste the five "Terroirs" of Pouilly-Fuissé, as well as to discover the villages and the producers.

Domaine Fichet

Burrier cellar

Georges Burrier cellar

A very original space in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé area. In Fuissé, located 2 km from the sumptuous 'Great Site of France' of the Solutré and Vergisson rocky cliffs, the Georges Burrier's cellar does propose not less than 120 different wines of the region, from over 15 vintages, in a contemporary specially designed space.
